Stability

Four-wheel buggies with their centre of gravity balanced by your child's weight in the seat, are generally more stable than three-wheelers. Three-wheel buggies are nevertheless worth considering since they can handle anything from rough terrain to busy streets.

When folded, three-wheelers can be more bulky than buggies with four wheels due to the single wheel in front. Check that the model you select fits in your car's boot and can be set up upright if required. Some models are able to fold with one hand, and they're freestanding when they're collapsed, which can save space in smaller car boots.

A good 3 wheel pushchair is able to cope with most terrain from busy main streets to woodland tracks. It's important to think about the way you'll use it every day. If you'll be running the school run, it should be able to cope with steep slopes and kerbs. If you plan to jog on it, ensure it has a swivelling "stretch front wheel' that can be locked. This will help keep the ride stable.
