A euro cylinder needs to be properly measured to ensure it is the correct size for your door. The cylinder should be measured from the central screw hole to the ends of the cylinder. This includes the thumb turn, if there is one. If you are unable measure it using the lock in a fixed position, you can remove it. It is crucial to ensure that there is no cylinder that extends beyond the handle or escutcheon. This could make it vulnerable to snapping lock attacks.

Most newer cylinders have been made with bump and anti-drill features that are built into their design. They are designed to decrease the risk of attack by forcing the cylinder to rotate in the opposite direction. This will help to deflect an attack and ensure your door is secure.

There are cylinders that are made to resist snapping. This is an increasingly common type of attack on cylinders which is where the break line of the lock is attacked using a special tool to break the front of the cylinder and allow the door to be opened. This is faster and easier to achieve than gaining access through multipoint locks. It also leaves no evidence of a break-in which could hinder the insurance claim.

Spring Cassette

The spring cassette is situated in the base plate of the door handle. It is a spring-loaded solution to return the multipoint lock handles to their original position after usage. These handles used to have no spring and would drop when the locking mechanism was removed. This simple component is the most effective way to address this issue. The spring cassettes were made to be used with sprung multipoint lock. They will not fit handles that aren't sprung and you'll have to cut a hole into your backplate for them to fit.
