The best robot hoover can clean and mop without requiring your attention. It will leave your floors clean. Its low cost and features that are high-end (such as dirt detection) are great features.

Check your robot's brushes regularly for tangled debris and hair. Clean them as needed. Some models can also automatically empty their dust bin on board into a larger bin in the base, which decreases the amount of fine dust released into the air.

1. Roomba Q5 Pro

The Q5 Pro, and its more expensive cousin the Q7 Max Series are among the most powerful robotic vacuums we have examined. They are equipped with top-of-the-line motors which can generate up to 5,500 Pascals of suction force. Like other premium iRobot models (including the top choice), they use smart mapping technology to create detailed floor plans and avoid home-based obstacles like cords and furniture legs. They also have carpet boost that increases the robot's power when it sees an abundance of dirt on the carpet, allowing it clean quickly.

Both the Q5 and the Q7 Max Series get very high scores on our tests on floors that are bare They're also particularly adept at cleaning pet hair. However, they do have several flaws that prevent them from being our top pick. One of the weaknesses of the Q5 is that its navigation system doesn't feature AI-powered obstacles avoidance. It's also prone to getting stuck on shoes and socks, and it couldn't navigate through rooms with a lot of people efficiently during our tests. It also doesn't have a camera to see around corners.

It's still a good deal, especially if your office or home has lots of unfinished flooring and you're looking to save money. Plus, it's very quiet and you can use it while you're at work, or going to school. The only thing it lacks that you don't get in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30 is edge-to-edge vacuuming of floors with no floor. It's also less effective at mopping. It is dependent on disposable wet wipes that don't stick very well and cannot handle dried-on debris. The Q5 is self-emptying cradle, however. If you want to, you can switch the mopping pad for dry ones in a matter of minutes.

2. iRobot Roomba X30

The iRobot Roomba X30 packs impressive mopping and vacuuming capabilities into a sleek, compact package. Its quick navigation and smart cleaning maps make it easy to clean and efficient at taking on larger particles, such as pet hair. It also has strong suction and an automatic vacuum cleaner and mop bin for emptying. It's the best automatic vacuum robot vacuum for carpets, though it's not as effective as some rivals in deep cleaning.

This high-performing combination vacuum and mop makes use of advanced sensors to avoid obstacles and pet waste and it also learns the layout of your home over time to provide more efficient cleaning. The app lets you customize zones and change the cleaning schedule. Its battery life is average in comparison to similar models.

You can instruct the X30 Ultra to remove its mop and extend them when it's in a room with carpet which prevents cross-contamination. Its flex arm can also be used to reach beneath furniture that is low and along baseboards. It doesn't perform as well on the washboard as our other Editors' Choice Picks, the Ecovacs Ozmo N8Pro+ and the iRobot Combo j9+.

During testing, the X30 Ultra was the fastest robot vacuum/mop that could complete an entire home, and it did so with 66 percent of its battery left. It did a great cleaning job on different floors and rooms with different kinds of flooring, including some area carpets. Its obstacle detection was top-notch and it was nimbly avoiding fake dog turds, socks, shoes and cables.

It's a little more expensive than the iRobot Combo v9+ and iRobot Roomba j9+, but it has superior suction, an onboard dustbin that automatically fills up its base, and supports voice commands using Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It can also clean the floor even after it has vacuumed. This is something we haven't seen in other robotic vacuum/mop combinations.

3. IRobot Roomba X40

The robot vacuum and mop combination is sleek and has a circular design that appears more like a regular Roomba model than the boxy models from the rivals. It is one of our most attractive robot hoover vacuums. The latest flagship model from iRobot is also the most intelligent. It has advanced features such as Enhanced Dirt Detection as well as future compatibility (another company’s robot that can wash mop pads on its own).

It's the only robotic mop or vacuum to score an exemplary 10/10 in our evaluations thanks to a blend of high-tech sensors that include a camera, structured light system and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot hoover and mop in our tests that is fully self-refill and empty its base station and it has an its own self-cleaning mop pads.

The X40 as with other iRobot products, is easy to use. It comes with an intuitive mobile application interface and integrates with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only issue is that the X40 is still a noisy unit. This can be a problem in mornings before work, or in the evening when you are trying to fall asleep.

It's also a bit costly but not as much as the Ecovacs S8 MaxV Ultra or the Roborock S8 Omni, which are both equally impressive and attractive. It's a dual-purpose vacuum that is very efficient however it's more expensive and create more noise.

iRobot L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is a top-of-the-range robot vacuum and mop with a lot of advanced features that will let you get rid of your chores. Similar to Ecovacs range-topping X2 Omni and Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra, the L20 is designed to be a hands-off cleaning machine that takes the care of mopping and vacuuming, with a multifunction dock that automatically empty the vacuum's dustbin, refills its water tank and washes and dries its mop pads.

The smart robot makes use of a combination of LIDAR and structured light to map out floor plans and spot obstacles, and navigates more effectively than its more expensive rivals. It also has a front-mounted camera to detect hazards in real-time however, it wasn't reliable in our tests and was often confused by power cords or other obstructions.

The vacuum cleaner comes with a maximum suction of 7,000 Pascals which is more than sufficient to do the job. It also features "Intelligent Dirt Detection", which regulates how hard the vac works and adjusts the frequency of cleaning for different areas of the home in accordance with the degree of dirt they tend to be.

For larger homes, it's worth opting for a model with spot or zone cleaning modes that let you tell the robot to clean a particular area of your house using the app or voice controls. If you have furniture, a stair-mode is also useful. Finally a recharge and resume function that lets your robot vacuum continue where it left off is great for busy families.

5. iRobot Roomba RX3

The RX3 is more sophisticated than the price suggests. It has a great vacuuming performance, picking up 55% debris in our tests. (It was second to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops using a single pad and a reciprocating movement that cleans better that most of the mop cleaners with robots that we've examined. It's also self-sufficient, with a full-featured app and an auto-emptying washable base.

The iRobot app is designed to guide you through a mapping run that collects data on your floorplan as well as any "no go" areas you've marked on the map. It can be used to design cleaning schedules, or to organize a spot-clean. You can also use it to rank your most filthy areas to improve performance. The app comes with a variety of options, including seasonal suggestions, custom mapping and advanced cleaning settings.

Its shape is more rectangular than most other robot vacuums, meaning it can get to corners and underneath furniture more easily. It also has a strong 8,000 Pascal suction and combs that are intelligent for hair of pets. You can also create a spot-clean that thoroughly cleans a particular area.

The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD offers a sleeker and less expensive alternative to iRobot Roomba. It's got a more attractive style, much like Dolce & Gabbana. The twin cameras are shaped like cute little eyes. It's good at vacuuming but is more prone to be caught by low thresholds and is louder than the other top robot vacuums we've tested. It also has an app that's less intuitive, and a smaller base station that doesn't double as a bin to empty.
