Carpet detection increases power automatically when it comes into contact with rugs, and the dual side brushes help to tease away debris from corners.

The mopping performance, though still impressive, isn't as good. The rotating mop spins at a high rate and it pushes down with 2.2lbs of force, easily scrubbing up dirt and stains. I've noticed that the front arm sticks out a bit more than other robots. This is helpful in tight corners or on baseboards. The front arms can also be used to scoop up larger pieces of debris, like broken toys and books.

Another good thing is that the S1 Pro is one of the quietest robot vacuums and mop I've ever tried. It doesn't produce the same volume of sound when mopping or vacuuming and is much quieter than the Narwal Freo X Ultra or RoboRock S7. The only downside is that the S1 Pro must use a proprietary cleaning solution for mopping and is sold separately from the vacuum. It's simple to install and works well however, this is something that you'll need to be aware of in case you're purchasing this vacuum solely for the reason of mopping.

The X1 Omni robot vacuum is the most expensive in our review. However, it does have distinct features that make it worth looking into. The X1 Omni's biggest draw is its huge dock which serves as the robot's charging base and the housing for two water tanks, a clean sink, and a 2.5-liter dust bin that is automatically empties.

The base also has a number of control buttons that let you manually start a cleaning task or recall the robot or use the dock's best automatic vacuum emptying process. Hold down two buttons to turn off a child lock which is a great feature for parents who are worried about kids tinkering with the vacuum.

Similar to other robotic vacuums, the X1 Omni utilizes its camera to detect furniture and obstacles in its path and eliminate them. True Mapping 2.0 navigation maps your home up to four times faster than laser detection systems.

Unfortunately this means that the X1 Omni will occasionally become so entangled with obstacles, like a power cord draped across a rug--that it becomes stuck and ceases to function until you remove it manually. This is a rare event, but frustrating nonetheless, because the X1 doesn't have a "stuck status" alert on its application.

The X1 Omni is unable to automatically switch from mopping mode to vacuuming mode during a cleaning session. You'll have to manually switch between the two modes, Automatic Vacuum Cleaner which isn't too bad but the mopping pad isn't washed or dried between uses. This could lead to mildew and mold.

On the positive side, the X1 Omni is a beautiful-looking robot, thanks to the design team at Jacob Jensen (of Bang & Olufsen fame) who came up with its sleek, modern-looking base and mopping pad. It's a major departure from the utilitarian, all-black bases that are used by rivals like Roborock and iRobot and a pleasing sight in a space which is dominated by clunky boxes and clunky models.
