WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader

Upgrades will give you a boost in certain stats. Each upgrade increases the level of an item by +3. Each upgrade also boosts a random substat.

The upgraded gear is usually more valuable, unless it has low requirements by nature (like FB sorc shields) or has a large variance in stats (like Eth Titan weapons). Upgrades are not as valuable for the latter because of the requirement to roll an exact version.

Recycle Points

The item upgrader enables players to upgrade their gear to a higher level by supplying the appropriate currency to the NPC. Upgrades can be applied on any kind of armor or weapons. The item used to upgrade the item will be consumed and can't be used again. Upgrades can also be applied to enhancements.

The upgrader can be found in all major cities, and is accessible anytime to upgrade your gear. It is recommended that you visit the upgrader at least once every few weeks to keep your equipment up-to-date.

The cost of upgrades will vary based on the current item level of the item upgrading being upgraded, but will always be cheaper than purchasing new equipment from other sources. For instance, item Level upgrade upgrading a Benthic chest to 385 levels will cost 20 recycle points while purchasing the same item level Upgrade from another player will cost 105.

Valorstones

Upgrades are functional items which can be used to upgrade weapons tools, armor, and other items. They can be purchased through NPCs who sell upgrades to item owners in a variety of currencies. They are also available on random treasure lists. Once an upgrade is purchased it can be used on any weapon or tool with a button, which will show an image of the item at the next upgrade level if the player has sufficient materials.

The cost of upgrades varies based on the Best item upgrader slot and current item level and the weapon's price is higher than gloves or bracers, Item Level Upgrade for instance. Each upgrade costs 15 Flightstones and a variety of crests, with certain upgrades offering discounts to lower the cost of the Flightstones or crests that are used. Once an Best item upgrader is upgraded to a certain degree, it can be downgraded and sold to the upgrader at a lower cost.

A lot of locations offer upgraders for items, including the main Island and a few outposts. The NPCs offer an upgrade coupon and a possibility of getting an entirely new recipe. The discount for upgrades increases according to the number of items being upgraded, and can be increased by having players complete specific achievements or complete quests.

Icewind Dale does not have an upgrader for items at the start, unlike Cromwell from Baldur's Gate II. The NPCs who are able to facilitate upgrades are only available via a variety of ways. This is both a positive and an issue.

In Season 3, many new features have been added to the upgrade system. After a player has upgraded to a certain item level for an armor slot upgrading other items to the same level will cost less. This is even if those items are from another set of gear.

The discount is applicable to all accounts. The amount of Harbinger Crests needed for upgrades is also cut and is not available until players have reached certain achievement milestones.

Crests

When it comes to upgrading equipment in WoW players have a couple of options. Flightstones are an item that is available to everyone who wants to upgrade. Crests are more specific, and are used during specific item level upgrades. Crests are a crucial part of the Dragonflight Gear Progression System that was introduced in version 10.1. They come in four ranks.

The first thing to remember is that the crests can only be purchased for equipment of a certain rank. Each rank has an upgrade path that is different. The most basic and straightforward upgrade path costs 15 crests, while the more complex one requires as many as 20 crests, based on the type of gear being upgraded.

Players can obtain crests by working through content that is of the appropriate level, whether that means walking around and doing outdoor activities for gear of lower tiers, raids or dungeons of all difficulty for items of higher tier, or Mythic+ heroic raid bosses or dungeons for gear that is used in the endgame. These crests can be exchanged with an upgrader for the item such as Cuzolth or Vaskarn in Valdrakken to upgrade the item upgrading in the proper steps and paths.

The use of these currencies isn't that difficult however, the system will introduce a few modifications to the upgrade process. When a piece of equipment attains the highest level of upgrade for any rank (Explorer or Adventurer) it will no longer require Flightstones. This allows players to upgrade their gear to the highest possible ilvl on all of their characters, instead of relying on seasonal loot.

Another notable change is that crests have one purpose, so it's important to make use of them in a responsible manner. It's Best item upgrade to put your Whelpling-rank Crests on the top-quality equipment that you can find, and save Drake and Wyrm Crests to be used for the next set of upgrades. This is especially applicable to items like trinkets and rings that fill multiple slots. The discount for the entire account will only be applicable if all the slots on the character are filled with top-quality equipment.
