The Roborock Q7 Max is a powerful robot that has smart mapping and app-based no-go zones. Its 180-minute running time is impressive. It also self-empties and refills its water tank.

1. Roomba j7+ from iRobot

The Roomba j7+ is iRobot's most intelligent robot vacuum to date. Its greatest advancement is an obstacle detection system that utilizes built-in AI to detect objects such as charging cords, shoes and the dreaded pet waste that many other robots are unable to avoid (and often slough through). It's also the first robot to automatically send you photos of the object it comes across so that you can tell it to stay clear of it in the future.

And it's compatible with Alexa and Google Assistant, so you can turn it on and off using your voice.

The design is also more appealing than the competition. It features a sleek, top piece that appears like an toy, not a loud and obnoxious robot. The Clean Base Automatic Dirt Disposal System self-empties, which is great to speed up cleaning.

In our tests, we found that the j7+ was quick to eliminated dirt, dust and hair from pets. Its counter-rotating rubber brush rolls kept the debris in one place instead of scattering it across the floor vacuum robot. It even managed to catch small gravel and sand, which most other robots couldn't do. And it did all this without getting caught in our pet's shedding hair.

The j7+, although not as intelligent as the Roomba S9, which costs $1,217+ Self-Emptying Vacuum from iRobot, and it can't clean the stairs, it's an option for those who need both a vacuum and a mop. It's not expensive and the iRobot App makes it easy to use.

Although the iRobot Home app is very easy to use however, we've found it to be less reliable than other applications that use robotic cleaners. It can take a while to download updates and it's sometimes difficult to know whether they're functioning until you actually witness them in action.

2. Roborock Q5+

If you're looking for an automated vacuum cleaner [sovren.Media] that can do more than just clean floors, the best option is probably a hybrid. This category of bots typically comes with a built-in tank for water which means they can mop and vacuum your home simultaneously. They also come with a variety of extra features like smart mapping and small object avoidance and the capability to wash and dry mopping pads. They are expensive at full retail but often lower prices on Black Friday or Cyber Monday.

Roborock is one of our top robot vacuum robot vacuums and the Q5+ isn't an exception. It's their cheapest auto-empty model, automated vacuum cleaner and although it lacks some of the premium features found on higher-end models (like no-go zones and multi-story memory) it's still a great option if you're willing sacrifice a little to save a few hundred dollars.

The Q5+ is notably soft around obstacles like table legs and walls which makes it a good choice for homes with lots of furniture. It's also very thorough in cleaning up dust bunnies, which is a problem which many robot vacuums can really fail. The navigation technology in the Q5+ is superb as well, with only a few misses in corners and along walls.

The Q5+, like other Roborock products can be controlled via just a few buttons on the device or through the Roborock App. Through the app, you can begin and stop cleanings or schedules, establish virtual barriers and no-go zones and adjust your home map or re-label rooms.

If you opt for the Q5+, it comes with a new auto-empty dock designed specifically to make this machine easy to maintain. Installing it requires a screwdriver but once in place, emptying the bin can be done without difficulty. It also comes with a large LCD display that is great to have when setting up schedules or altering settings. This isn't a necessary feature for most people, but it's one that can assist you in keeping track of your robot's maintenance intervals with ease.

3. Narwal Freo X Ultra

The Freo X Ultra robot vacuum and mop is a sophisticated well-rounded mop and vacuum. It's capable of both mopping and vacuuming. Its design and functionality are among the most advanced available however, it's also expensive.

The base station is attractive and is hidden when it's not in use, and the size is quite compact. But the station's biggest selling feature is the way it automatizes various tasks and functions that other robots leave up to you. It stores clean and dirty water, Automated Vacuum Cleaner electrolyzes and heats the water (which many other robots require you to do) and empty the dust bin after vacuuming, and ensures that your robot charged and clean.

And its vacuuming is impressive, too. It's the only robovac I've tested that does well at picking up debris from bare floors. It's also not as loud as the more expensive Roomba 900 series or iRobot 980.

The Freo X Ultra is not free of faults, especially when it comes to navigation. Its laser sensors and LiDAR sensors aren't as reliable as other robot vacuums. This means that it is prone to getting stuck or confused in certain areas or rooms in the home. It's not able navigate stairs as well as competitors, and it doesn't have a dock that lets you to create an exclusive cleaning zone for plush carpets.

The Freo X Ultra robot vacuum and mop is an excellent choice for those who want an automated vacuum that can do everything.

If you're looking to save some money, or just don't care about the limitations of this robotic there are many other options available which include a variety of eufy models priced substantially less. The Eufy Qrevo curv, for example is less expensive and has many more features, like stair climbing and a full-function Dock, with a better overall vacuuming experience on floors that are unfinished carpets with low pile, and even high-pile ones.

4. eufy RoboVac g30

Eufy is an Anker company that has an established track record of making robot vacuums that have the right balance of features, performance and price. The G30 Hybrid offers a powerful cleaning on hard and carpet floors, as well as a mopping function at a reasonable price. It's simple to set up by snapping one of the side brushes on, switch it on and plug in the charging dock. The app will guide you through the steps to connect your G30 to your Wi-Fi. The dock will need to be placed close to an outlet that has plenty of space to move.

The G30 is a tiny device that measures 2.85 inches in height, which means it is able to be placed under most couches and low-clearance pieces of furniture. Its design isn't as ostentatious compared to some rival models. Its smaller dust canister does not require emptying as often and it struggles less with bulky material such as cereal.
