The Q5 and Q7 Max Series both scored very well in our tests on bare floors and are especially adept in removing hair from dogs. However, they do have some flaws that prevent them from being our top choice. One of the weaknesses of the Q5 is its navigation system doesn't feature AI-powered obstacles avoidance. It's thus susceptible to become stuck on socks and shoes, and it couldn't navigate densely packed rooms very well during our tests. It also doesn't come with cameras that let it see the corners of a room.

However, it's a good choice, especially if you want to save money on an Roomba from iRobot, and you have a bare-floored home or office. Additionally, it's quiet and can work while you're at work or going to school. It's not equipped with the edge-to-edge floor vacuuming that is available in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30. And it's less effective at mopping, using disposable wet wipes that don't stay on very well and can't handle dried-on debris. The Q5 comes with a self-emptying cradle however. If you're in need of it mop, the mopping pad can be replaced with one that is wet in just a few just a few seconds.

2. iRobot Roomba X30

The iRobot Roomba X30 packs impressive mopping and vacuuming capabilities into a compact, sleek package. Its smart cleaning maps and nimble navigation make it easy to clean, and efficient in tackling larger particles such as pet hair. It also comes with a self-emptying bin, powerful suction, and support for virtual boundaries. It's the best robot vacuum for carpets, although it lags behind some competitors in deep cleaning.

This high-performance vacuum and mop uses sensors to avoid obstacles and pet waste. It also learns the layout of your home over time and provide better cleaning. You can alter the schedule of cleaning and even customize zones through the well-designed app. Its battery life is average compared to similar models.

It can also clean the floor even after it vacuums. This is a feature we haven't seen on other robotic vacuum mop cleaner robot/mop combos.

3. Roomba X40 from iRobot

With a sleek circular design that appears like a regular Roomba than the competition's boxy units this robot vacuum and mop combo is one of the most attractive looking models in our reviews. The latest model from iRobot is also among its most advanced. It features advanced features like Enhanced Dirt Detection and future compatibility (another company’s robot that can wash mop pads in a self-cleaning manner).

It's the only robotic mop or vacuum that scored 100% in our evaluations, thanks to a combination of high-tech sensors, including cameras, a structured lighting system and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot we tested that can completely self-refill and empty its base station, and it boasts the industry's highest suction of 12,000Pa and best robot hoover self-cleaning mop pads.

As with other iRobot models, the X40 is user-friendly, with a simple mobile app interface and integration with Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit as well as Google Assistant. The only real drawback is that it's still quite loud which could be problematic if you run it in the morning prior to work or at night as you try to fall asleep.

It's also a bit expensive, but not as much as the Ecovacs S8 MaxV Ultra or Roborock S8 Omni, which are both equally powerful and more attractive. If you're willing to put up with a bit more noise and some additional cost, this is a very powerful two-in-one that will delight most.

iRobot L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is the top-of-the best robot mop and vacuum. It has a range of features that are advanced and will make you forget about your chores. Similar to Ecovacs the range-topping X2 Omni and Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra, the L20 is designed to be a hands-free cleaning machine that takes care of both mopping and vacuuming, with a multi-function dock that automatically empty the vacuum's trash bin, refills its water tank, and cleans and dry its mop pads.

The smart robot uses LIDAR and structured lighting to create floor plans and detect obstacles. It is more efficient in its navigation than its top competitors. It also has a front mounted camera for real-time hazards detection but this wasn't completely foolproof in our tests, and was sometimes confused with power cords or obstructions.

The vacuum cleaner comes with the capacity to suction up to 7,000 Pascals which is more than sufficient to accomplish the task. It also comes with an attribute called "Intelligent Dirt Detection", that regulates the vacuum's power and adjusts cleaning frequency for various areas of the home based on how dirty the areas tend to be.

For larger homes, it's worth opting for one with zone or spot cleaning modes that let you tell the robot to clean a particular area of your house using the app or voice commands.
