1. IRobot Roomba i3+ EVO

The i3+ EVO and its i3 EVO sibling, the i3 EVO are the same robots, but they differ in that the i3+ has self-emptying features. The i3+ is a good alternative for those who want a an automated, hands-free cleaning experience, but want to manually empty the dust bin after it has filled up.

Both robots excel at picking up surface debris on hard floors and carpets, and they're excellent at getting around furniture and other obstacles. iAdapt navigation software creates a smart map of your home to aid the i3+ in its navigation and clean efficiently. However, unlike the i7+ or other top robot vacuum cleaner-rated robots we tested, the i3+ doesn't have any obstacle-avoidance features which means it can be stuck on things like socks or power cords, and it can have difficulty traversing transitions across surfaces like hardwood to rug.

iRobot suggests that you clean the area in which the i3+ EVO vacuums prior to using it. This includes putting away any toys or other items it may encounter. It is also recommended to keep the dustbin and filter clear to avoid getting blocked. If the i3+'s internal bin is empty or the battery is depleted, it returns to the docking station, and it automatically emptys the dirt into the docking station’s external dustbin. Then it continues cleaning from where it started. The i3+ EVO's battery can last for about an hour and a half of continuous use, and takes about three hours to recharge.

2. Roomba from iRobot

The iRobot i7+ is a top model from iRobot’s flagship line and is packed with the most recent features. It's self-charging, self-navigating and -- the most important feature of all -- it comes with an auto vacuum cleaner-emptying dustbin, which eliminates one of the primary sources of maintenance for any robot vacuum.

The Roomba I7+ can better map rooms with Imprint Smart Mapping. It also integrates with the iRobot Home app to let you schedule cleaning jobs and control your robot using voice or via the app.

The i7+ is more efficient and more agile in our tests than the eufy RoboVac G30. It also removed large pet hair pieces from any surface, including carpeting. Its biggest advantage over the eufy, though the dust bin is self-emptying which removes a major source of maintenance and lowers the cost of maintenance.

We were also impressed with the i7+'s compatibility Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant AI services. We used these services to instruct the robot to start or stop cleaning sessions, as well as to move around the room and vacuum a particular area. The iRobot Home App made it easy to connect the i7+ with these services. Once connected to these services, we were able use the i7+'s voice commands, such as "Hey Alexa, vacuum the master bedroom." The iRobot Home app also provides options to manage the i7+'s settings and monitoring its performance.

3. Dyson Cyclone V10

In a world of vacuums that are cordless and are like minivans and buses, this small Dyson model feels like a sports car. It is powerful enough to replace a traditional stand-up vacuum in a majority of homes, yet it is also small enough to fit on a bookcase or coffee table.

The V10 is powered by a 7-cell energy-dense Lithium-ion battery that can provide energy that lasts for top rated robot vacuum 60 minutes. This model has its own advantages, however: it's lighter and more maneuverable than older Dysons cordless models, and its vacuuming ability is noticeably superior for carpet floors with low pile.

4. iRobot Roomba 694"

One of iRobot's most adored robot vacuums The 694 is an affordable model that's a good choice for people who don't want to spend too much money on a robot. It's capable of sucking up a variety of kinds of debris in our testing, and it frequently goes over the same areas multiple times to give a thorough clean. Its flat front makes it possible to reach corners and the edges of walls.

Its intelligent navigation system makes use of iAdapt to stay clear of obstacles and navigate your home, but it isn't equipped with the ability to map that comes with more sophisticated models such as our top choices such as the i3+ EVO and the j7+ series. Samsung is a brand you see on all sorts of home electronics, so it comes as no surprise that they're also one of the most popular robot vacuum and mop manufacturers. Jet Bot AI+ has the most advanced onboard technology to navigate and avoid obstacles.

It's also more expensive than some of the other models we tried and could be a problem for some buyers.
