WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader

Upgrades provide a guaranteed boost to certain stats. Each upgrade boosts the level of an item by 3. Each upgrade also increases an unspecified substat.

The cost of upgrades will depend on the current level of the equipment being upgraded, but will always be cheaper than buying new gear from other sources. Upgrades like upgrading a Benthic chest to the level of ilvl385 will cost you 20 recycle points. A similar item will cost you 105.

Valorstones

Upgrades are items that can be used for tools, armor, weapon, and accessory upgrades. They can be purchased by players from item level upgrade upgraders NPCs in a variety of currencies. They can also find them on random treasure lists. Once purchased, an upgrade is able to be used on any tool, weapon or armor. The button will display the preview of an item's next upgrade level, if there are enough materials.

Upgrade costs vary depending on the slot for the item and the current item level. For instance, weapons will cost more than gloves, bracers or bracers. Each upgrade costs 15 Flightstones plus a set number of crests. Some upgrades give a discount on the Flightstones. This change is designed to allow players to upgrade their equipment to the highest possible ilvl on all their characters instead of relying only on seasonal loot.

It's also crucial to choose crests with care, since they have only one purpose.
