World of Warcraft Item Upgrades

Upgrades to items are a method to increase the stats of an item. Depending on the upgrade type it can boost an item's Mark Level or Rarity and boost additional stats.

Each item has a track for upgrading it. Each upgrade increases the cost of the next item by a certain amount.

Item Level

When an item gets upgraded, its basic stats improve in value. The value is the sum of an item's leveled-up perks (attack magic attack and defense). Upgrades can be expensive depending on the person you hire and what you do. This is because of how many perks need to be replaced to allow the item to be upgraded.

It can also be used as a gating requirement when waiting for dungeons, raids and scenarios. It is also used to determine a gating condition when waiting to queue for dungeons and scenarios and raids, and to limit the amount of PvP gear that a player can wear (since PvP is limited to the lower levels). The average level of the item is listed on the character sheet.

When deciding whether to buy or sell equipment players can evaluate the levels of the item upgrading. It's a useful gauge of an item's worth and the amount of damage it will be capable of dealing with. Comparing items in the inventory of a seller is possible using the level of the item.

On PC, upgrade Item you can see the level of the item using ALT, or by using the left stick on XB1 or PS4. This will display the item's full description, including the ilvl. It can also be located by hovering an item with the mouse cursor, and then typing /itemlevel in chat.

There are various theories about how the calculation of the item's level is made. One theory says that the item level is calculated using an equation that determines the value of an item's stats actually are. It is based on the fact that different perks are valued differently, and that gems in sockets increase the item's value. This can result in a calculated amount for the item's ilvl, which is usually quite close to Blizzard's real level of the item.

This is not the only factor that affects the level of an item. The level of the area where the item was dropped may alter its stats. For example it can add a level to the item's haste or upgrade item crit rating. This means that items dropped at higher levels will have more the ilvl than items from lower level instances.

Item Stats

Item stats are a big part of what determines the value of an item for players. The game uses a lot of them in a variety of ways to encourage players to play with a variety of weapons, and to prevent one weapon from being "the most effective." The base stats on a weapon are enhanced by the weapon's stat modifications which are then enhanced by the player's level.

Upgrades to the item add by increasing certain stats on the item. The upgrade costs are determined by the rarity of the item. For example, a grey or white item can only be upgraded once, whereas items with rare tiers can be upgraded many times, at higher costs.

Affixes can also be used to change an item's stats. These are special stat boosts that can be added to an item by the player and come in a variety of sizes and shapes. The affixes are used to provide items with extra damage or special capabilities (such as the ability to revive dead or reduce cooling downs), or to make them unique by adding a name.

All affixes can be currently re-rolled by selecting them in the Upgrade item menu and pressing the green button. This procedure will cost the player a certain amount of gold and items which can be used to add to the upgrade gauge in the same way as other rerolling options.

In addition to the possibility of rerolling affixes, players may also choose which of the available stats to keep on an item after it is upgraded. The range of stats determined by the item's level. However every item will contain at least one stat in the same range, unless it's a unique item or a God Roll from a raid boss.

This is another aspect that could be changed by introducing an option to upgrade the equipment without rerolling the affixes, or selecting which stats to boost. However, as with the base equipment, this would have to be carried out on a per-item level, and the interface for comparing items wouldn't show all possible stats that were gained or lost at the same time.

Item Luck

The Luck stat for a player adds up to increase the chances of item discoveries and the properties that are spawned from loot drops and the intensity of those properties. However, it does not directly affect damage or the ability to upgrade items. It gives the player the chance to upgrade their equipment earlier in the game. This is especially beneficial in early game runs since players tend to prioritize weapon scaling and defenses above raw damage gains.

Luck can also boost the likelihood of upgrading items at the Blacksmith. This is not to be confused with the Blacksmith's overall upgrade item chance which increases with each level and can be further increased through the use of an anti-material such as a Scroll of Strength or a Jewel of Blessing.

Armor, shields and weapons can be created or spawned with the Luck property, with a default value of 40. These items can be augmented with golden ingots, or spined leather (depending on their material type) to add another 40 luck, or to increase the Luck of an item up to 140.

Moreover there are certain items, like the Hollow infused weapon, can be equipped to increase the damage of any damage-dealing skill by 5percent. These items can be purchased in the shop or created by using the appropriate ingredients.

Item Failure

Not all upgrades work. However, there are some cash shop items that allow players to boost their success rate or prevent them from losing an item level upgrade if the upgrade fails.

When you upgrade an item, the success rate is displayed in the Honing UI. The percentage represents the probability of successfully upgrading the item and can be enhanced by adding Additional Materials or Special Materials. There are limitations to how much success rates can be increased and the chance of an upgrade failing cannot be greater than 100%..

The luck of an item may affect the effectiveness of an upgrade. Every item has an average success rate of 25 percent, and every item with Luck increases the chance of success by 5%.

It is important to note that upgrade items are rendered above the inventory items, so enchantment glint and other effects can be obstructed by them. If you wish to disable the upgrade overlays, the config option decoration.renderUpgradeOverlays can be set to False in the Item Upgrader CORE client config.
