Path of Exile Item Upgrading

In Path of Exile, item upgrading is one of the most effective ways to upgrade your gear without relying upon big-ticket drops or trade. This article will teach you how to upgrade your items.

Upgrades to equipment provide an additional bonus to the item's base stats. The bonus is based on the rarity and quality of the upgrade component.

Components

Upgrade components can make your weapons and armour better. They can be obtained by the destruction of enemies, finding them in spheres of items or buying them from karma merchants. They can also be salvaged from equipment with them, or by utilizing an advanced salvage kit like the Black Lion Salvage Kit or Ascended Salvage Tool. Upgrade components are not destroyed by removing them from the Item upgrader kit.

Upgrade components are primarily used to improve an item level upgrade but they can also be used for other purposes. They can be stacked in order to boost the level or experience gained from upgrading existing weapons or gear. They can also be forged to provide extra bonuses.
